KAU president Prof. Abdulrahman Al Youbi inaugurated the 10th Engineering day events on Monday 21st of March 2016. The function is organized by the Faculty of Engineering over two days at King Faysal Conference Center.
The program's events started with a visit to the accompanying exhibition to which several companies have contributed to draw potential cadres among the Faculty graduating distinctive students.
KAU president indicated that the tenth engineering day coincide with KAU 50th anniversary as well as the 40th Faculty of Engineering anniversary. It also coincides with the graduation of the first female student class considering that the engineering day aims to strengthen and confirm the skills and competencies of the students.
Prof. Al Youbi urged the faculty of engineering students to observe engagement and serious attendance in the programs, seminars and workshops provided by the function. He also suggested taking advantages of the professional and practical activities presented by the student during the year in pursuit of achievement of the sought objectives and for the rehabilitation of an engineering pool capable of leading the field with the utmost professional standards.
Prof. Alyoubi thanked the Faculty of engineering dean, faculty members and students and staff for organizing such function and for their contribution in making it a successful one. He specifically thanked the basic sponsors and the faculty of engineering partners such as Aramco and Sabic.
From his part, the faculty of Engineering dean Dr. Abdulrahim Kinsara presented an overview of the recent achievements of the faculty male and female students in local and regional contests. He also noted the recent visit of the accreditation team to the faculty of engineering which scored 34 strong points and whose final report on the faculty was free from any weak points. He drew attention to the main goal sought by the faculty, which is the betterment of the faculty graduation outcome putting the faculty graduates at the top of companies' recruitment short lists.
He noted the importance of the engineering day for the students and the current job market needs and the different engineering specialties underlining the necessity for these specialties to fulfill the Saudi job market.
It is worth mentioning that the Engineering day events are managed by a group of faculty students under the supervision of the faculty. It is an occasion for the students to demonstrate their talented creativities in competition varying from engineering projects presented by their designers and robotics contest in addition to cultural competitions. The function also provides training courses delivered by specialized cadres from the university.
All academic departments of the faculty of engineering participate in the function by appointing student representatives who provide explanations on their department specializations and answer all questions and enquiries by students wishing to join the faculty.
The 2016 Engineering Day is sponsored by a number of companies and institutions among which; Saudi Aramco, Sabic and the golden sponsor: Top Equipment Factory. A number of other institutions will sponsor the activities among which Aqwat Company for food industries, SEL, KAUST, Saudi Consult, SIMENS, National Business leadership Institute, Saudi Engineers Society, Peri, Goten, Golf Medical, King Abdullah Medical City, Al hadith CO., Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, Jeddah Destination and the Entrepreneurs Magazine.
